“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
------
As a nation, we welcomed the new year in mourning as we witnessed the loss of multiple lives to senseless violence in New Orleans. Shortly thereafter, we watched countless individuals in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas lose everything due to unprecedented wildfires, and we said goodbye to our oldest living commander-in-chief.
That being said, this year has already seen its share of traumatic experiences, making this quote from Dr. King more timely than ever as we determine both collectively and individually where we stand...
in the face of grief...
in the face of uncertainty...
and in the presence of countless fellow humans who need to see love on display like never before.
