About Rev. Lawson
Rev. Walter Lawson currently serves as a pastor within the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, where he has dedicated over two decades to guiding individuals and families toward spiritual growth and resilience. His ministry focuses on bridging gaps, breaking silos, and creating pathways for congregants and community members, especially youth, to succeed against all odds. In addition to his pastoral duties, Lawson also has a great deal of experience in other areas of public service, having served as a law enforcement professional for over twenty years within the Federal Bureau of Prisons and four years in the US Army. ​

As both a faith leader and community advocate, Rev. Lawson's unwavering commitment to youth remains evident through his consistent volunteerism and mentorship. Particularly passionate about improving the plights of youth with mental health challenges, Lawson background as both a pastor and law enforcement officer uniquely positions him to explore the balance between justice, compassion, and strategic action as he endeavors to support youth and families in leading safer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.

Lawson is a devoted husband, father, grandfather and proud summa cum laude graduate of Morris Brown College where he earned the distinction of being both Valedictorian and Vice-President of his class.
